So, at this point, I’m sure your thinking I am totally against 3DTV. I have been attaching articles for weeks about the health consequences of 3DTV and here is another one <Click Here>.

This article pertains to an article by the American Optometric Association that states that on average 9 million Americans will not be able to see or perceive 3DTV. Again, this seems awfully high for new technology. Some people will be able to retrain their eyes to handle the problem (with the help of an Optometrist, of course) but after 50 years of 2DTV, why this sudden rush to unproven 3D Tech. It amazes me that we have barely scratched the surface with HD (High Definition) and even with all the various aspect ratios we still don’t have true 1080p(progressive – showing a whole screen at a time when it refreshes) in most markets in North America and on top of that we still are lacking in full 1080p – 24/7 programming 7 days a week. Here in Canada we have about 20 – 30 HD stations and all the rest are still running 480i (interlaced – flashing left then right in fast progression to create a whole image). They say that by 2011 – 2014 we will be fully digital and all HD by then, but this is still a problem in a lot of American cities as well. So again I ask, why the rush to 3DTV?If we haven’t perfected HD yet in all its glory, how are we going to do justice to 3D?
Sony and the other 3D tech companies are talking about 3D gaming and movies and how great it will be. Again I ask – if your only supposed to watch 15 minutes of 3D at one sitting, how much gaming are you going to be able to do in 15 minutes? Maybe one level if your lucky.
Which brings me to my next article tomorrow that regards an article in PC World magazine that suggest small children should not play 3D video games, so how about TV then?
If all these warning are true, why are we rushing pelmel into 3dTV and a basically unproven technology that has yet to be fully tested.
I’d say it is all about profit, but I’d be more concerned about the lawsuits at this point.
