Trombone Shorty – funky music the way it should be!

As a lot of you know, I am a fan of CBC Radio 2 and they have been playing an artist lately called Trombone Shorty (a.k.a. Trey Andrews).  The track is “Something Beautiful” from his new album “Backatown” and he performs on the track with another artist, that I’m a fan of, Lenny Kravitz. I checked out ITunes and fell in love with the record. I downloaded it (legally through ITunes) and have been listening to it, almost non-stop, since I got it. The majority of the tracks are crunky, fat beats with a Trombone and Trumpet with a few tracks containing guest artists like Kravitz and Marc Broussard.  The band suggests the sound is “Super Funk Rock“, which I’d have to agree with, but I have to say so far this year, this is the soundtrack of summer. It’s brash, devil may care, music.  It’s great for a a patio party, dancing or just a night of groovy licks and a wee dram of Scotch with the lights out. If your looking for something a little different to listen to this summer,  I whole-heartedly suggest Trombone Shorty, as a great pick me up on a hot summer day, a long road trip or a night out on the town with the windows down.  Trombone Shorty is were it’s at. Have fun.

  • Thank you for the nice blog, even if it took quite a large time to complete reading. (English is not my native language) May I ask where you get your sources from? Thankyou!
